Our Week-Long Experiences offer a unique, hands-on way for your children to experience the museums. Engaging activities will allow participants to see, touch, and do something out of the ordinary.

We are now taking reservations for our 2012 Week-Long Experiences! Program sizes are limited. Please call (607)-547-1461 to reserve your child’s spot.

Children should bring a bag lunch to the below programs. Snacks will be provided.

Galleries Galore

  • July 30-August 3; 9:00-3:00 (This program will take place at Fenimore Art Museum)
  • Ages 8-11, Max. 10 children, Min. 5
  • Fee: $250/$200 NYSHA members
  • The activities are based upon the different permanent fine and folk art collections, Native American art, and traveling exhibits within the art museum. Participants are introduced to the fundamentals of art such as line, shape, color and perspective while experimenting with a number of different artist mediums and styles.  The museum’s 2012 season includes the traveling exhibition, American Impressionism: Paintings of Light and Life, which the Galleries Galore participants will view and create a still-life with importance on using light and color. One afternoon the students will have a chance to explore photography with Kevin Gray and his exhibition Reclaiming Gettysburg: Kevin Gray’s Modern Tintypes. The week-long experience culminates with a special exhibition of the students’ artworks and a reception for their parents, family, and friends.
