Cynthia G. Falk, Cooperstown Graduate Program

What do old barns tell us about the history of agriculture in our region and throughout New York State?  In this lecture, Cindy Falk will connect agricultural buildings—both extant examples and those long gone—with the products and processes they made and make possible.  Falk will discuss keys for dating barns, regional barn styles, and barn types associated with specific crops.  This lecture will be accompanied by the first public book signing for the new volume Barns of New York: Rural Architecture of the Empire State, published by Cornell University Press.

Cynthia G. Falk is Assistant Professor of Material Culture at the Cooperstown Graduate Program.
