A great introduction to nineteenth-century farming techniques!  This workshop will introduce you to a variety of skills needed in working with draft animals.  Topics covered will include harnessing and hitching a single horse, yoking a team of oxen, plowing, cultivating, and use of a stone boat.  You will have the opportunity to drive both the horse and the team of oxen.

Fee: $35 NYSHA members, $40 non-members

  • Registration and prepayment are required.
  • Registrants who cancel 7 or more days in advance of the workshop will receive a full refund.
  • Registrants who cancel less than 7 days prior to the workshop will not receive a refund unless the participant's spot can be filled.
  • If The Farmers' Museum cancels a program because of weather, insufficient registration, or any other reason, registrants will receive a full refund.
